Therapeutic Goods Act 1989
I, TERRY SLATER, National Manager, Therapeutic Goods Administration, delegate of the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Health and Ageing for the purposes of subsection 17 (5) of the Therapeutic Goods Act 1989, require the following therapeutic goods to be included in the part of the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods for listed goods:
- preparations, referred to in item 3 of Part 1 of Schedule 4 of the Therapeutic Goods Regulations that:
- contain, as an active ingredient, activated charcoal, which is to be mentioned in Division 3 of Part 5 of Schedule 4 of the Therapeutic Goods Regulations; and
- is supplied with a label that includes each of the three statements to the following effect:
- "products containing activated charcoal should be used with caution in children since it may interfere with absorption of nutrients", and
- "this substance may interact with other medicines", and
- "activated charcoal is not recommended for long-term use".
