Women’s Health Products Working Group meeting #6, 27 March 2024

We hosted the sixth meeting of the WHPWG on 27 March 2024. The Working Group is comprised of representatives from consumer groups, health professionals, industry and academia, together with senior officials from the Department of Health and Aged Care.

The following topics were presented:

• the regulation of software and artificial intelligence, including how the TGA regulates software as a medical device, and evidence requirements for registration.
• the review of the classification of in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) media, and human cell/tissue/organ storage solutions, with input provided by the working group.
• an overview of the Australian Longitudinal Study on Women’s Health and an analysis of data available relating to female reproductive health, hormone replacement therapy and contraception use across the range of participant cohorts.

The next meeting is scheduled to be held in Canberra on 30 July 2024.
