Market research - Understanding the impact of medicine shortages in Australia

In February 2024, the TGA commissioned the Health Design Lab to conduct market research to better understand the clinical, economic and lifestyle impacts of medicine shortages and discontinuations, experienced by consumers and health professionals across Australia.
This market research consisted of an online survey (800 participants) and 17 one-on-one interviews. The participants were individual consumers, pharmacists and prescribers.
This market research contributed to recommendations on improvements to how TGA monitors and responds to medicine shortages and discontinuations in Australia.
