What is the problem?
Permobil Australia has identified a software problem with the SmartDrive MX2+ App for the PushTracker E2 and E3 wearable watches operating on Android WearOS.
The PushTrackers E2 and E3 are used to operate the SmartDrive MX2+ power assist device for manual wheelchairs.
What are the risks?
If the user has multiple activities running on the watch, the application may fail without warning.
If the application fails when the user is in forward motion, the motor will continue to run, and the user will not be able to stop the device using tap gestures.
This could lead to serious injury, for example, running into obstacles or other people.
What should I do?
Depending on the home screen layout of the SmartDrive MX2+ App for PushTrackers E2 and E3, you should be able to easily tell if your watch is up to date (version 1.1.00) or not as shown in the picture below.
If you have not updated your SmartDrive MX2+ software on the PushTracker E2 and E3, you should download version 1.1.00 through the Google Play Store.
If you don’t know how to update your software:
Please use the QR Code below to access the Permobil Australia portal and follow the instructions on how to update your software.
Enter the password SmartDrivePT2023 to enter the portal.
If assistance is needed during the software update process, the portal will provide you with access to the Permobil Australia customer support team.
If you have any other questions, please contact Permobil Australia at 1300 845 483 or quality.au@permobil.com.
While waiting for the software update you should follow these actions immediately to reduce dangerous situations:
- Stop using the PushTracker E2 or E3 and use a wired controller (Switch Control Buttons or Speed Control Dial) or other wearable controllers.
- If you are running multiple applications and experiencing any slowdown with the SmartDrive MX2+ application, close the other applications.
- Follow the Instructions for Use and wear the PushTracker snug on your wrist.
