Anticipated shortage of Orencia (abatacept) medicines
Published
We are aware that shortages of both Orencia (abatacept) 125 mg products, the ClickJect prefilled autoinjector and prefilled syringe for subcutaneous injection, are anticipated from early to mid-June 2024.
To minimise the impact of these shortages, we are investigating a Serious Scarcity Substitution Instrument (SSSI) and making available overseas-registered substitute products. We are also meeting with the supplier (Bristol-Myers Squibb Australia) and relevant healthcare professional associations to develop guidelines for patients, prescribers and pharmacists.
