Consumers and health professionals are advised that Specsavers, in consultation with the TGA, has initiated a recall of one batch of Easyvision Umere Daily Contact Lenses (lot number R0031987).
Daily contact lenses are disposable lenses used to correct some vision deficiencies. They are intended to be discarded after each day's use.
It has been identified that the affected batch (lot number R0031987) of Easyvision Umere Daily Contact Lenses was labelled as containing lenses with a prescription of -6.50 when it contained lenses with a prescription of -4.50. Some customers ordering -6.50 lenses were supplied with -4.50 lenses.
The lot number appears in various places on the packaging.
Affected lenses were supplied only to Specsavers' online customers between 1 October 2014 and 20 February 2015.
If the wrong lenses are used, consumers will most likely experience blurred vision which in most cases will be obvious to them at the time.
There have been no adverse events associated with this issue reported to the TGA.
Information for consumers
Specsavers has contacted affected consumers to advise them of this issue and to arrange for return and replacement of lenses.
If you purchased contact lenses from Specsavers' online portal between 1 October 2014 and 20 February 2015 and have not been contacted, check the packaging for the affected lot number, R0031987.
If you have purchased potentially affected lenses you should use an alternative form of vision correction until they are replaced.
If you have lenses from the affected batch, or if you have any other queries or concerns, contact Specsavers on 1800 074 171 or email customerservice@specsavers.com.au.
Specsavers will replace all -6.50 lenses purchased by potentially affected customers, whether or not the wrong lenses were supplied.
In the event you are experiencing blurred vision or any unexplained changes regarding your vision at any time, please contact your optometrist or another health professional.

If you are treating a patient who uses Easyvision Umere Daily Contact Lenses advise them of this issue.
If they are using lenses from the potentially affected batch (lot number R0031987) advise them to contact Specsavers on 1800 074 171 or email customerservice@specsavers.com.au to arrange for replacement. In the meantime they should be advised to use a different form of vision correction.
