Black triangle format and template
Products included in the Black Triangle Scheme must:
- have the black triangle symbol and accompanying text included in the PI and CMI
- use the current Product Information format.

Black triangle size and placement
- Each side of the black triangle symbol must have a minimum length of 5mm.
- If the font size of adjacent text exceeds 20-points, the symbol must not be smaller than the surrounding text in the document.
- A standard explanatory text accompanies the symbol to give further information to consumers and healthcare practitioners.
- The symbol and text should appear at the top of the first page of the PI and CMI, before the headings for these documents.

Important: For PI’s included as a package insert for use in New Zealand, the words in Australia should be in bold font to meet Medsafe recommendations.

Where to use the black triangle symbol
Include the black triangle symbol and accompanying text in any additional risk minimisation materials. We also encourage you to use the black triangle in any promotional materials.
