Introduction
Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG)
The publicly accessible version of the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods is the reference database of the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA). It provides information on therapeutic goods that can be supplied in Australia.
Please note: the ARTG is a record of the contents and classification details of therapeutic goods. It is not intended to provide guidance, advice or recommendations on those goods.
Purpose
This content provides guidance on search options on the ARTG.

1. Top navigation
Glossary
Select ‘Glossary’ to view a list of definitions used in the ARTG. Terms are also listed on our Glossary of Terms.

Click to see overlay page hint and tips
Refresh Page
Select ‘Refresh Page’ to remove all filtering that was previously selected.
2. Navigation Pane
The tabs on the left of the dashboard provide a quick link to other dashboard views. Select a tab to open that view. Click advanced search to use additional general search criteria. Select a product type tab for product specific search criteria.
3. Search field
This section helps you search ARTG entries by the “ARTG ID, Product Name, Good Name, Sponsor Name, Active Ingredient or Excipient”.
Select eraser icon to clear the search box.
4. Search results - More options
Hover above the top right of the Search Results table and select the first icon to filter the results.
Hover above the top right of the Search Results table and select the focus mode icon next to the ellipsis (…) to expand the table to full page view.
Hover above the top right of the Search Results table to display an ellipsis (…) that provides ‘More options’.
Select ‘Export data’ from the list to export the summary information contained in the Search Results to a CSV or Excel file. The full ARTG details can be exported by selecting each therapeutic type and exporting the full details. For the whole ARTG, that will require four exports, one for each therapeutic type.

| Conditions | A list of conditions that are imposed on a therapeutic good | |

| ARTG Status | Status | A term which describes the registration/listing status of therapeutic goods in relation to their inclusion, or otherwise, in the ARTG. |

| Closure (container) | Information that describes the container’s closure, such as ‘child resistant’ | |

| Class | Medical device and biological classification with regard to their intended purpose. This will take into account the level of invasiveness in the human body | |

| Poisons Schedule | The classification of medicines that controls how they are made available to the public (e.g. S4, S8 etc) | |

| Effective date | The date on which the status of the product in relation to the therapeutic good became effective on the ARTG | |
| Start date | The date the therapeutic good started on the ARTG | |
| Sponsor | The individual or organisation located in Australia that is legally responsible for the therapeutic good in the Australian market | |
| Equivalents | The Ingredient name where the ingredient is a dry or fresh herb where the preparation is an extract or where a component of a substance is declared on the label or mandated due to regulatory requirements | |

| Good name | ARTG Name | The name of the ARTG entry – this is a combination of the sponsor name and product information, depending on the type of therapeutic good |
| Dosage Form | The pharmaceutical form in which a product is presented for therapeutic administration, e.g. tablet, cream (see TGA approved terminology for medicines) | |
| Approval area | The regulatory area within the TGA that evaluates and approves a therapeutic good for sale in the Australian market | |
| Pack size | The size of the goods in terms of the quantity contained in the container (e.g. volume in the multi-use container) and/or number of items in the primary/unit pack (e.g. number of tablets in a bottle) | |
| Specific Indications | The specific therapeutic uses of the good | |
| LifeTime (container) | Shelf Life | The time period during which a therapeutic good is expected to remain within the approved shelf life specification, provided it is stored under the conditions defined on the container label |
| Permitted Indications | Therapeutic use of the goods, selected from a list of indications that are permissible for use in Listed Medicine goods | |
