From 1 July 2024, we will only accept submissions via the Special Access Scheme (SAS) and Authorised Prescriber (AP) Online System. Read about the transition to a paperless model for SAS and AP submissions.
You must register an account to use the online system. Once registered, you can log in to draft and submit SAS or AP applications and notifications online.
Who can use the system
Health practitioners can access the online system SAS dashboard. Only medical practitioners can access the AP dashboard.
Health practitioners can submit SAS applications on behalf of the prescribing practitioner.
Health practitioners can access the submission validation search to check the status and other relevant information of active applications and notifications.

Register an account
- Go to the SAS and AP Online System.
- Select Register now.
- Follow the prompts.
When you register
When you register, you will need to create a new username and password. You will need to provide:
a unique email address accessible only to you
your full name and contact details
your Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) number.
An email to activate your account will be sent to your nominated email address.
You must activate the link in this email within 24 hours. If you don’t do this, the link will expire.
If your activation email link has expired
If you use the link in your activation email after it has expired, a new email will be sent.
You must activate the link in the new email.
Online system features
You can use the SAS and AP Online System to:
- track the status of your submissions
- save your draft submissions
- search your submissions
download a copy of the submission receipt or decision letter
- find applications that are expiring or have expired
- clone previous submissions
- share submissions with other system users in your organisation
- validate the status of submissions and other relevant information in real-time.
Authorised prescribers can submit six-monthly reports.
Medicinal cannabis and therapeutic vapes
You can submit your SAS medicinal cannabis application and a state and territory authorisation, if required, through the online system. You won’t need to apply separately.
You can submit your SAS C therapeutic vape notification for smoking cessation and the management of nicotine dependence through the online system.
You can become an Authorised Prescriber for therapeutic vapes containing nicotine without ethics committee approval. Use the streamlined nicotine AP application.
Submission validation search
You can use the SAS/AP submission validation search to view real-time information relating to the TGA status of SAS and AP submissions. If there is an active TGA authorisation or notification, the search tool will display the status of the submission and other relevant information.
If your search does not return any results, then please contact the prescriber.
- Log in to the SAS and AP Online System.
- Select SAS/AP Submission Validation.
- Enter the submission number provided by the prescriber and select search.
Password resets
You can reset or change your SAS and AP Online System password once every 24 hours.
When you reset your password, you must wait 24 hours before you reset or change it again.
If you try to reset or change your password again in this time, the lockout timer will restart at 24 hours.
Update your details
You can update your name, address or prescriber specialty details in the SAS and AP Online System.
Log in to the SAS and AP Online System.
Select your account name in the page header. Select profile.
Edit your name, address or prescriber specialty.
