The thermometer in this kit is primarily used in the home to measure a person's body temperature.
The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) has been advised that Safety 1st Complete Healthcare Kits (Item Number: 49773; Barcode Number 8439254291) contain a thermometer which displays the temperature reading in degrees Fahrenheit rather than degrees Celsius.
In Australia, temperature readings must be displayed in degrees Celsius.
If the person reading the temperature display is not aware that the reading is in degrees Fahrenheit they may unnecessarily seek treatment for a high temperature.
The units affected were sold through Kmart, Target, Toys R Us & Independent Retail stores nationally between April 2011 and June 2011.
